Robbie Henderson - The Nakau Programme
Robbie is a co-designer, founder and CEO of the Nakau Programme, an ethical commercial conservation program operating in Australia and the Pacific.
Robbie moved to Alice Springs in 1996 and over the past 20 years has moved between his home in the desert and stints abroad in Pacific Island countries. He previously worked with the NGO Live & Learn International for 12 years on projects in Vanuatu, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, the Maldives and Cambodia. He has more than 20 years experience in natural resource management and community engagement programs.
In 2001 he was awarded the Young Australian of the Year Environment Award (NT) and was a national finalist. Robbie has a strong background as a practitioner and project designer, and specializes project management, cross cultural planning and engagement with indigenous groups. He has a passion for social entrepreneurship and aims to design conservation initiatives that can attain a meaningful scale. He currently lives in Alice Springs with his wife Emily and two boys Fynn and Archer.
